Privacy is about Freedom:
We live in an ever changing world that’s becoming more digital by the day. Privacy should be a human right and yet it’s up for grabs by big corporations that sell off your information for big profits. They control what you see, what you hear and what you think, if you let them.
Hit them where it hurts (their pocket books) by switching to amazing, privacy respecting alternatives that actually respect you as an autonomous human being. I’ve listed great alternatives below that I have personally researched and can vouch for. They are easy to use and are getting more popular by the day.
Increase your online privacy by using the Brave browser. It’s a great alternative to the Chrome Browser that respects your privacy and allows you to earn their very own crypto currency, BAT (Basic Attention Tokens). You can reward your favorite online creators by tipping them BAT and creating good strong communities!

Stop reusing your “1234” password on all your accounts. Use a password manager to generate long complex passwords and use 2FA (two-factor authentication) to secure your Bitwarden account. By default all of your information is encrypted on their servers and only you hold the de-cryption key. Their software is open-source which means that anyone can review their software code to confirm that everything is safe. Another plus is that you can use 2FA to add a second layer of security on your online accounts and if you’re really savvy Bitwarden is also compatible with Yubikey.

Speaking of having back doors on the software that you’re currently using, did you know that your emails can be regularly scanned and spied on by people you don’t want snooping around your stuff? Well Proton Mail by default keeps all of your emails encrypted, so everything is safe, private and secure. Trusted by the privacy community and located in Switzerland where they hold strong privacy laws I definitely recommend using them. Nothing is ever free and if someone promises a free service it’s probably because you’re the product.

SIGNAL MESSENGER APP
Signal Messenger App is a great private alternative to WhatsApp Messenger. Although WhatsApp works through encrypted communication, the company still holds the back door key and can de-crypt your messages if they so choose. Signal on the other hand doesn’t collect your private message and they don’t have back doors. You hold the encryption key and only you and the friend receiving your message can see them. It’s as simple as that. And by the way, did I mention they also have an actual working desktop client? Unlike WhatsApp.

There’s a theme here in my blog post. Encryption is great but it means nothing if there is a pre-baked back door on any software. This is why I like using Proton VPN, because not only is the basic version free but it’s also from a really trusted company that doesn’t have back doors in their software. Protect your computer IP and privacy by using Proton VPN.

NO CENSORSHIP PLATFORM:
Finally we have a strong alternative to Youtube and their monopoly on video hosting! It runs on the blockchain which means that no one can de-platform them. Your voice won’t be censored here and you can already find awesome content creators who have moved from Youtube to Odysee (AKA LBRY). Did I mention that you can also earn their very own cryptocurrency LBR when you use their platform?
